Running on empty. Often it takes a crisis, uaually a painful one, for people to realize their emptiness. We live in a highly disoriented world that is profoundly confused.
We have confused acheivements for authenticity Credentials for credibility Conceit for confidence And the applause of men for the appoval of God
When such weary pilgrims stop long enough to examine their unexamined lives, they find that they have been running on empty for too long- so long that chrnic busyness is seen as a status symbol. The vain reasoning is that an important person is surely a busy person; therefore if i am busy, i must be important. And the busier i am, the more important i feel. Through all this, the soul is paradoxically restless and purposeless; under- nourished and empty.
I don't want busyness to be a chronic illness in my life. Do you? I want to abide in the vine so that i may bear much fruit. Lord, i pray you hear my cry. In Jesus Name, Amen. The pic above is an illustration of this passage in relevance with my life. Keep running and running, victory after victory.. am i fulfilled or growing empty? |
